I chose this song because it has a rolling rhythm. I imagined strumming or picking on a guitar and singing this around a campfire while telling the story of "The Iron Rod" to my kids. It can be performed as a duet or choir.
Apparently they took their web page down. I will try to post the sheet music soon, but if you need the music before I get that done, hit the "contact me" button, shoot me an email, and I will get it to you.
I hope the fathers won't be too disappointed. I come up with something to sing with one of my old, favorite primary songs, though. The primary and youth will be singing "Daddy's Homecoming", (the one that starts out "I'm so glad when daddy comes home"). The primary will be singing the first, original verse. The youth choir will be singing a verse that I found on the primusic yahoo group. I tweaked, the verse a bit. I wish we had recorded it, but we didn't have time.

I'm so glad when my dad comes home,
He shoots some hoops with me.
He leads the family in scriptures,
prayer and F-H-E.

We go for walks and have long talks
He taught me how to add.
When I grow up, I want to be.
Just like Dad!

The kids loved it, and the the primary really enjoyed singing with the older kids.Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09432138055512579837noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4476686469452187362.post-54194719230027156042010-05-02T16:55:00.000-07:002016-07-03T09:59:04.023-07:00TBTM Music AND WordsHere it is, the much-requested music and words for Taught By Their Mothers. I couldn't find anything that I liked, so I finally decided to write a song for the event. I didn't want a slow song, because the youth get bored with those kinds of songs. I took my inspiration from Helaman's stripling warriors and the pioneer youth. I am pretty pleased with the results. It is called Taught by Their Mothers, and I have included sheet music. You can also listen to the accompaniment below.
I wanted to include the cub scouts. I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for in sheet music, so I created this medley. It is a combination of “Put Your Shoulder to the Wheel” and “I Hope They Call Me on a Mission”, with the older boys singing PYSTTW and the younger boys singing IHTCMOM. You can find it here.Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09432138055512579837noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4476686469452187362.post-4778813286957968062010-02-28T16:09:00.000-08:002010-02-28T16:16:02.983-08:00I created this blog as a resource for those leading youth choirs. I have just been called as a youth choir director. This is a new thing in our stake, and if it goes well, all of the wards will be doing it. Hopefully this will be a place where people can go to find music for youth choirs.Amberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09432138055512579837noreply@blogger.com0
